Erin Loewe, Certified ISR Instructor

I have been passionate about drowning prevention my whole life.
My mother became an ISR instructor in Orlando in the late 1980s after having my younger brother
learn with a local instructor there. For many years thereafter, I was very familiar with the
sights and sounds of babies and young children mastering their rollbacks, floats, and
swim-float-swims in my own back yard. I did not have aspirations as a child to become an
instructor, but I knew one thing: when I had children of my own, they would learn to swim
through Infant Swimming Resource!
Although I was not taught to swim through the ISR method, I have been swimming since
before I can remember. I spent many years on swim teams, playing in neighborhood pools and
water skiing. I strongly believe that the enjoyment and health benefits I received from aquatics
were possible because I learned to swim so young.
After my first child was born, I searched Tallahassee for an ISR instructor but could not
find one. When he was 2 years old, he went through the ISR program and from
then on was a fish in the water. I was so fascinated with ISR's methods and was looking for
a career that would allow me to spend more time with my family. One thing led to another, and
I trained under a master instructor in Jacksonville so that I could begin to help children
myself.
I live in Tallahassee with my husband, Karl, and our two children, Quinn, 8, and Ava, 4
(who are both ISR swim-float-swimmers!). I have a bachelor's
degree in journalism from the University of Georgia, which helps me pursue my off-season career,
freelance writing.
Since becoming an instructor with Infant Swimming Resource, I have thoroughly enjoyed helping
babies and children become aquatic problem solvers and educating parents on how to keep their
children safe around the water. I look forward to working with other ISR instructors and our
community to ensure that not one more child drowns.
